Struggling with infertility due to low Sperm count..here's the remedies

What are the infertility remedies ?

Low sperm count is one of the reasons for infertility.
As per many references we talk about the natural ways to increase your sperm count and hence the chances of fertility.

Causes of low sperm count include:

- Zinc deficiency
- Excessive smoking and drinking
- Tight underpants
- Overweight
- Exhaustion
- Stress
- Sperm disorders can affect your sperm count, the quality of the sperm and the movement. If sperms are not ejaculated often, their mobility goes haywire. Sperm disorder affects the shape of the sperm too. In terms of ejaculation and infertility, erectile dysfunction, failure to ejaculate or even premature ejaculation can be a problem during sex and also for conceiving.

Normal sperm count:
The normal volume varies from 1.5 to 5.0 milliliter per ejaculation.
The sperm count varies from 20 to 150 million sperm per milliliter.
At least 60% of the sperm should have a normal shape and show normal forward movement (motility).

Vitamins that can increase sperm count:

1) Vitamin B: Sources of Vitamin B: Cheese, eggs, milk, yogurt  fortified cereals, spinach, legumes, whole grains and nuts.

2) Zinc: Sources of zinc: Oysters, sesame and sunflower seeds, ginger, wheat germ, red meat, dark chocolate, watermelon seeds and pumpkin seeds.

3) Selenium: Sources of Selenium: Shellfish, liver, fish, sunflower seeds, crabs, prawns, lobsters, and cereals made from rice, wheat and oats.

Ways to Increase Sperm Count:

1) Indulge in sex and masturbation less often.
2) Avoid processed and unhealthy food choices.
3) Practice yoga to reduce stress and improve health.
4) Avoid wearing tight underwear to avoid overheating the testicles
5) Get sufficient sleep
6) Lose weight to balance the hormones
7) Avoid sitting for long hours.
8) Get a good body massage to improve circulation.

Yoga exercises to improve fertility:

1) Agnisaar kriya

2) Halasana

3) Setubandhasana

4) Dhanurasana

5) Ashwani Mudra

6) Bhastrika Pranayam

Hair Loss Causes and prevention defined

THE REASONS WHY

As per the research findings
Lack of sleep and exercise were common factors among patients below 30 years, say trichologists, who also conclude that patients with a strong family history of baldness experienced premature baldness as early as 18 years of age. Blood samples collected from patients were analyzed to get to the root cause of premature balding and acute hair loss. Researchers have zeroed in on some of the reasons:

* Poor GI (glycemic index) - sub-normal functioning of intestines in more than 50% patients, which is a direct result of water contamination.

* Poor liver, as revealed by a liver function test.

* More than required levels of zinc in the blood which could be attributed to high levels of zinc in groundwater or use of galvanized vessels in cooking and hormonal imbalance.

ZINC LEVELS
Higher ZINC levels in blood  and intake of water with higher content of metals is another reason for the same.

Do's and Dont's

1. Exercise and hair fall

One of the main reasons for hair fall is stress. Stress produces a hormone called cortisone which causes hair follicles to stop growing and results in thinning of hair. Exercise reduces cortisone levels in the body by increasing blood circulation throughout the body.

Exercise increases a hormone called serotonin, which decreases cortisone level and decreases hair fall.

An increase in blood cholesterol and blood sugar has been documented to increase the dihydrosterone hormone sensitivity of hair follicles, which cause androgenetic or male pattern baldness. Exercise reduces blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels and decreases hair fall.

2.Excessive oil in scalp

Hair follicles contain sebaceous glands which secrete sebum (an oily substance) which keeps the scalp naturally oily. On application of excessive oil, the scalp becomes a nidus for secondary fungal and bacterial infection causing hair fall. Oiling should be restricted to half-an-hour massage in the morning, followed by a wash with a mild shampoo.

3. Seven hours of uninterrupted sleep every day is a must for all age groups.

1)Aloe Vera gel is an excellent remedy for taking care of dark tans. It will lighten the skin in as little as a week, if applied everyday to the affected area. However, aloe has the property of making your skin photosynthetic and can darken it if you go out in the sun without sunscreen lotion. Try this to cure dandruff

Dandruff is a common complaint, especially in the winters.
Since most people wash their hair with warm water during the winter season, this often causes the scalp to become dry and flaky. Below are the home remedies you could try to get rid of dry as well as sticky dandruff:
  • Soak two tablespoons of fenugreek (methi) seeds in water overnight. Grind into a fine paste in the morning, apply on the scalp and leave for half an hour. Wash off, preferably with a soap-nut (ritha) solution. Use the water in which the seeds were soaked as an after-shower hair tonic. Follow this regimen twice a week for the first two weeks and once a week for another two weeks.
  • Squeeze a teaspoon of fresh lime juice into the last rinse while washing your hair.
  • Make a paste of lemon juice and fuller's earth and apply this mixture to the scalp once a week.
  • Keep curd in the open for three days and massage your hair with it for half an hour before washing.
  • Mix cider vinegar with equal quantities of water and dab onto the scalp with cotton wool before washing.
I myself have tried the methi and lemon one and it has helped me with my dandruff problems.

Foods which need to be avoided on daily basis

So what are these foods in your daily diet that you should avoid?

1. Glass of milk -  If you are used to having a glass of milk before you sleep, at breakfast, or even for a snack in the evening, take a break from drinking milk for a month.

2. Something sweet after meals - Just that addition of sugar after your meals is worth cutting down on if you have it on a daily basis. Let dessert be a treat you save for the weekends and you will probably savour it more.

3. Heavy carbs for your evening snack - How often have you felt so hungry in the time between your lunch and dinner, that you can eat anything without giving a thought as to whether it is right for you or not? You may land up knocking off a sandwich or a samosa. This may be the only unhealthy addition to your diet in the entire day, but consumed daily, this evening snack could be hindering your efforts. Therefore, carry something that has healthy proteins and fats like nuts, with you so that you don't succumb to hunger.

4. Potatoes - You maybe eating a healthy sabzi but a whole potato may have been added in there to improve the flavor. Fresh veggies taste good on their own if you try, so give it a shot.

5. So called 'healthy snacks' - Baked chakris and chips, all of these so called healthy snacks, should be substituted with real nutritious food. This is a misconception and you are better off without these highly processed snacks.

NO NO for weight loss

what NOT to do when on a weight loss journey:

Think of exercise as a chore - if you think of exercise as something you have to drag yourself to do everyday, then you are not going to be able to do it with enthusiasm, and energy that you will need for the session to be productive.

Eat carb heavy food for dinner - in the night, try and keep it light. Chicken, soup, and a nice big salad should be your ideal meal. This will really help in the long run if you form the habit of eating light.

The same workout for 365 days - doing the same workout day in and day out leads to boredom and fatigue. There will come a time when you won't want to look at that treadmill anymore or only the strongest willpower will make you will yourself to go for your workout.

Skip your meals - skipping meals leads to binge eating, you may be able to sustain it for a short while but eventually your willpower will give way to pure and natural hunger. Don't starve.

Belittle any low intensity exercise - Any exercise is good exercise if you keep moving. Therefore excuses like 'I can't go to the gym today as my car has gone to the garage' really has no weight because you can just as easily go for a brisk walk around the block.

Healthy Foods makes Beautiful You

- Fruits like plums, citrus fruits (oranges, sweet lime, and lemon), strawberries, amla, blueberries and blackberries; and dairy products are rich in zinc and selenium that help prevent skin inflammation.
- Cucumber, with its high content of vitamin E and water is good for skin care and moisturising. Its juice has purifying and detoxifying properties, prevents hair loss and wrinkles, and helps in treating acne.
- Apples contain vitamins and pectin. Pectin helps in absorbing unhealthy oils and toxins from skin and neutralise skin-damaging toxins.
- Consume eight to 10 glasses of water per day and avoid dehydrating foods and beverages such as caffeine (cola, chocolate, coffee, tea) and alcohol. Water acts as a body purifier, by removing toxins and waste from your body.
Foods good for you...
Vitamin C : Strawberries, lime, sweet lime, oranges, guavas, radish leaves, fenugreek leaves, coriander, cabbage, capsicum, green chillies, cauliflower, bitter gourd, and sprouts.
Vitamin E: Corn, vegetable oils, nuts, spinach, olives and wheat germ.
Vitamin A: Fish liver oil, eggs, butter, cheese and fortified milk. B carotene, which is a precursor to vitamin A, is found in deep yellow fruits and vegetables and dark green leafy vegetables.
Vitamin B: Brewer's yeast, used to make bread or any food or beverage made with brewer's yeast. A diet that includes fruits, vegetables and grain products should be sufficient to get the required amounts of vitamin B.
Selenium: Whole grain cereals, seafood, garlic and eggs.
Zinc: Oysters, lean meat, and poultry. Also, whole grains, nuts and legumes. Although these vegetarian foods are good sources, availability of zinc is lower in these foods due to the phytic acid content. Sprouted grains and pulses destroy phytates. A vegetarian diet often contains less zinc than non-vegetarian diet. Therefore, vegetarians should consume plenty of foods that are rich in this mineral.
Essential fatty acids: Omega-3 and omega-6. Though we get plenty of omega 6 from grains and oils, our body is often deficient in omega-3. Omega-3 is found in oily fish like salmon, herring, mackerel, tuna and sardine, flaxseeds and nuts like almonds and walnuts.

How to be hydrated in Summer...

To keep dehydration at bay this season, include lots of fruits in your daily diet.
- Citrus fruits like oranges and sweet lime are juicy and high in water content.
- Apricots can be cut and eaten or baked, cooked and pureed.
- Blackcurrants with their intense flavour are best mixed with other fruits like strawberries, raspberries or apples.

Opt for sweet cherries, which can be added to fruit salads.
- Plums are sweet enough to eat raw, or you can make them into crumbles, pies or tarts.
- Raspberries can be eaten raw and pureed.
- Strawberries are the fresh produce of summer. Serve them chilled.
- Watermelons have high water content and taste sweet and juicy. Make a tall glass of fresh watermelon juice and enjoy.
